We’re Going to Be Alright??

So back in September, I wrote a blog about a storm on the horizon. I couldn’t have been more wrong right.
Things were looking great. Even though it seemed like the Skins were winning DESPITE Alex Smith, they were winning and up until week 10, the Skins found themselves in 1st place in the NFC East.
Then that happened.
Since then, we have been through 3 more starting QB’s and a 1-6 record. Sprinkle a little controversy with Mason Foster, DJ Swearinger, 24 players on Injured Reserve, and a dismissal of most of the adults in the room in Redskins Park, and we find ourselves in the midst of a typical January in Redskins purgatory.
But let’s look at this objectively, and not through the bitter, jaded eyes of most Redskins fans. Let’s look at the silver linings:
Alex Smith
Alex is guaranteed the next 2 years Salary. So we either get to be hamstrung by a bunch of dead cap money, or we get to take a chance on a 35 year old QB coming off of a devastating compound fracture of the leg.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire, as I always like to say.
Great Draft Position
We should be nestled right in that 16-20 range in the draft, which by Ernie Grunfield standards is N-I-C-E.
In the NBA, you HAVE to tank to escape mediocrity. The Redskins (and the Wizards for that matter), are the kings of finishing dead in the middle of the pack, creating the facade of JUST enough success to justify not dropping a nuke on the whole thing.

But that certainly won’t happen.
Snyder’s drinking buddy, by all accounts, is looking completely safe in the inevitable fallout of this season. If ANYTHING, he will get another BS reassigned job title.

The Washington Capitals
Buuuuuuuuuuuttttttttt, how are the Caps related to the success of the Redskins?
They aren’t.
But Jesus give me a break, we all gotta have something to look forward to. The Caps are 9-1 in the last 10, and sit atop the Metro division in 1st. Ovi is the Eastern Conference All-Star captain, and leads the NHL in goals.
